During the official release party (April 19, 2008)for “Below Sea Level," Shan performed to a capacity crowd at the Commons Room, Holiday Inn, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Shan's 10 original compositions garnered a standing ovation from the crowd. Stephen Pedersen of the Halifax Chronicle Herald says: “The program is a balanced waltz...an up-tempo whiz-bang called Whether or Not...and a laid back ballad called Broken Strings...the music flows...allowing his unique musical imagination to emerge with rare distinction."
