Bassist Buster Williams performs with The Four Generations of Miles , featuring George Coleman, Mike Stern, and Jimmy Cobb, at the Iridium Jazz Club March 2-5, 2006. Sets begin at 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm, with an additional 11:30 pm set on Friday and Saturday.

Described by Jazztimes as “respected for many things, most notably the beauty of his tone and sound, along with the consistent quality of his writing and recordings," the bassist, bandleader, and composer Buster Williams has performed, recorded, and collaborated with jazz giants such as Art Blakey, Betty Carter, Chick Corea, Dexter Gordon, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, and Count Basie. Buster earned a Grammy in 1979, the Min-On Art Award, and the SGI Glory Award. He is also the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts grant, as well as a New York Foundations for the Arts Fellowship Grant.

In 2004, Buster celebrated the release of Griot Liberte, featuring Stefon Harris, George Colligan, and Lenny White. Kevin Convey, of the Boston Herald, writes “Just when you thought nobody made the kind of jazz album that depends more on class, beauty, chops and communication than on concepts and star value, along comes bassist Buster Williams' Griot Liberte. It's enough to restore your faith in the art form."

Upcoming Buster Williams concerts include The City of Brotherly Jazz at Jazz at Lincoln Center March 10-11; and the “Something More" Quintet at Blues Alley in Washington, D.C., March 14-19. For more information, visit www.busterwilliams.com.
