The dictionary lists the definition of “Tradition" as the handing down of statements, beliefs, legends, customs, information, etc., from generation to generation, especially by word of mouth or by practice.
For Detroit's Bump, the statement is that their annual Thanksgiving Eve shows are legendary. Through a DIY approach, word has spread helping to create one of Detroit's largest independent concerts of the year with consecutive shows of more than 1,000 people in attendance. It's a common belief by those in attendance that the show is a raucous good time, lubricated by the steady pours from the Majestic Theatre's bartenders on the “biggest bar night of the year."
For the 7th Annual Bump Thanksgiving Eve Show on Wednesday, November 26, at Detroit's Majestic Theatre, it has become customary to have your face melted by Bump's progressive art rock. This year, Bump welcomes high-energy Detroit rockers, The Hard Lessons for what has the makings of the biggest Thanksgiving Eve yet!
The Thanksgiving Eve show will mark an early sneak peak of Bump's new full length album due out this spring. For one night only fans can purchase a special enhanced CD that will feature the album's first single “Out of Reach" and special enhanced video of behind the scenes footage from the “Out of Reach" video shoot. Bump's new album is due out in early 2009 and is being co-produced by Dan Currie, formerly of Rustbelt Studios, and Josh Epstein of The Silent Years.
The Hard Lessons make rock music. Not the kind of rock music that plays during beer commercials or in the background at party scenes in bad movies, but the kind of rock that inspires people to stand up, stomp the floor, and allow themselves to be transported somewhere else. Fall of 2008 has led Augie and Ko Ko back into the studio to record their Quack Records full-length debut, which will be released in spring of 2009. The album reunites them with producer Zach Shipps (The Electric Six) and Dave Feeny (Loretta Lynn, Blanche).
Bump is excited to have transportation to the show from Royal Oak and Ferndale provided by The Night Move, metro Detroit's new biodiesel-powered shuttle service.
