Bologna has been loving jazz since 1958. All the greatest musicians played at its Jazz Festival, the most ancient one in Italy: Chet Baker, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Keith Jarrett, Miles Davis...

After a few occasional editions, the Bologna Jazz Festival (previously Festival Internazionale del Jazz) was born again for good in 2006, keeping the same love for jazz and the same attention to the international jazz scene it used to have.

Bologna Jazz Festival takes place each year in November when, for more than a week, performances come one after the other from happy hour till the small hours, in theaters, pubs, clubs and restaurants of Bologna, Modena and Ferrara.

In the latest editions many international jazz stars have played at Bologna Jazz Festival, such as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Brad Mehldau, Chick Corea, Stefano Bollani, Dave Holland, Cassandra Wilson and Rachelle Ferrell.

The upcoming 2010 edition will be featuring the “saxophone colossus" Sonny Rollins, Gary Burton, Enrico Rava, Terence Blanchard, Pat Martino, Roy Hargrove, Count Basie Richard Galliano and many more...
