David Starfire's Bollyhood Bass is set to release January 12, 2010. In 2007, as part of the Six Degrees “Emerging Artist" Series, David Starfire released the five-track Bombay Beatz (a Six Degrees digital-only EP), a brilliant excursion in pan-ethnic electronica and something of a manifesto for his particular musical vision. Now, in the wake of collaborations and remixes for such artists as Freq Nasty, N.A.S.A., Mochipet & Sub Swara, his first full-length, Bollyhood Bass refines and develops that vision further.

On Bollyhood Bass, Starfire continues to mix up sounds from India and the Middle East with bass driven electronics, dubstep, dance-hall, hip hop & breaks, in the singularly unique manner that has made him a favorite of the BBC Asian radio network and at festivals such as Coachella, Love Parade, Electric Picnic, Shambhala, Burning Man, Lightning in a Bottle and Earthdance. It is a sound that is both familiar and utterly unique: a world-electro fusion that nods to the Asian Underground movement and neo-bhangra while ultimately sounding like nothing except David Starfire.
