Jazz at Lincoln Center’s The Appel Room on June 6-7

New York, NY – Guitar icon Bill Frisell presents the final concerts of his Roots of Americana Series for the 2013-14 season on June 6-7 at 7pm & 9:30pm in The Appel Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall. Throughout the series, Frisell and an array of guest musicians have explored the intersections of rock, country, jazz and blues. Electric Guitar in America finds Frisell joined by fellow guitar master Greg Leisz and trio partners Tony Scherr on bass and Kenny Wolleson on drums.

Always on the lookout for opportunities to “dig around for where I’m coming from,” Frisell pays homage to his roots in the instrumental popular music made “right at the birth of the Fender Telecaster guitar” that, he recalls, “got me super fired up” about his instrument of choice. Frisell will reference, among other things, the amphetamine-driven surf music of legendary Speedy West, Jimmy Bryant, and Dick Dale, country icons Merle Travis and Chet Atkins, and groups like the Astronauts, the Ventures, and the Wrecking Crew.

Tickets for Electric Guitar in America in The Appel Room start at $45. Jazz at Lincoln Center is located at Broadway at 60th Street, New York, New York.
