Looking at the early influence of Be Bop on the founding fathers of British modern jazz like Ronnie Scott, John Dankworth, Tubby Hayes, Phil Seamen and Don Rendell through the revolution of the 1960's and the rise of distinctive British movements with the likes of Joe Harriott, Ian Carr, Michael Garrick and into the birth of electric fusion with Nucleus, Colloseum right up to the 80's jazz revival and acid jazz to today's club and electronic jazz.

The BBC are keen to secure contributions from jazz fans - any memories they want to share? Any photos, film footage etc? The BBC are keen to make this a well rounded and thorough exploration of jazz in Britain and its journey from illicit clubs in late 40's London through to the large Festivals in the countryside of middle England.
