NASHVILLE, TN - In a strong show of solidarity, top bassists from around the world are working together to provide relief to musicians devastated by the recent floods in Nashville. The new charity--dubbed Low Notes For Nashville--was founded by Sean O'Bryan Smith, a top Nashville bassist, and his close friend Lane Baldwin (Lane on Bass), who has strong ties to the city. The project will aid fellow musicians who have lost equipment, homes and income due to the terrible floods.
Numerous artists, including Nathan East, Brian Bromberg, Jeff Berlin, Stuart Hamm, Rudy Sarzo, Tony Franklin and dozens more, are contributing in a variety of ways, including pledging profits from download sales, sending musical instruments and equipment, producing PSA videos, and appearing at benefit concerts. In addition, more than a dozen music industry companies are supporting the cause.
Several benefit concerts are being planned across the country to help raise funds and awareness. The premier event will be the Low Notes For Nashville benefit concert, to be held at Douglas Corner (2106 8th Ave. South), at 8 p.m., Thursday, June 17--the night before the summer NAMM show opens. The concert will feature performances by many renowned bassists, including Steve Bailey, Vail Johnson, Bob Babbit, Doug Johns, Adam Nitti, Roy Vogt, Dave Pomeroy, Sean O'Bryan Smith and Lane on Bass.
