Boone, who will be backed on this performance by pianist Luke O’Reilly
, drummer Anwar Marshall
and trumpeter/E.V.I. artist John Swana
, is one of the busiest and most sought-after bassists in this region and beyond. His taste, versatility, time, tone and sense of swing moved the Philadelphia Inquirer
to comment that Mike Boone stands as the backbone of a thousand gigs. And his national credits - as a leader, sideman and recording artist - are unparalleled, as he’s backed artists such as Buddy Rich
, Mose Allison
, Clark Terry
, Nat Adderley
, Orrin Evans
and dozens of others.
The Jazz Bridge Neighborhood Concert Jazz Series is partially funded by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Philadelphia Jazz Project, Philadelphia Fund for Jazz Legacy and Innovation of the Philadelphia Foundation, and Painted Bride Arts Center. Jazz Bridge, a 501C public charity that assists area jazz and blues musicians in crisis, is sponsoring the Neighborhood Concert Jazz Series in Center City Philadelphia, as well as 40 other events this season on five area stages in the Greater Delaware Valley.
