Barry Cooper Sextet Presents: Basie and Beyond

American-born Jazz trombonist and member of the long-standing Count Basie Orchestra, Barry Cooper announces release of his first recording as a bandleader, titled Common Journey.

An exclusive Asian tour is in the works with anticipated dates in Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Shanghai and Singapore.

Cooper has gained recognition internationally and at home as a member of the Count Basie Orchestra, Charles Tolliver Big Band, Chico O’Farrill Afro-Cuban Orchestra, Lincoln Center Afro-Cuban Orchestra, Duke Ellington Orchestra and Clark Terry’s Young Titan’s of Jazz.

Being a protge of Benny Powell (Count Basie Orchestra member 1951-1963), Barry acknowledges this professional instruction and guidance as “the most valuable training any young trombone player could receive.”

Primed to make his mark on the global stage, Cooper already uniquely positioned as a Basie Band player, is proving he has what it takes to be amongst the best.

Adding credentials to an already impressive rsum, with the release of Common Journey, Cooper is set to take his musical skills to the next level. He has performed with iconic music industry figures including singers Tony Bennett, Nancy Wilson, Dianne Reeves, Dianne Schure and Liz Wright among others.

By expanding his reach cross-culturally to audiences worldwide through performances, lectures and master classes, this rising performer is creating a progressive success track that will bring jazz to emerging markets overseas.
