Virtuoso pianist Avi Adrian has released a new trio album with Gilad Abro (bass) and Gilad Abro (dums) celebrating the music of the late Adar Broshi who died of cancer last April at the age of 19 after two and a half years of fighting the disease. The music on this album was written during this period.
WBGO radio host Doug Doyle said on air: ”Adar was a super talented young man who was taken away from us much too early… but his spirit lives on through this project.”
Mr. Adrian has played and toured with Dave Liebman, Billy Cobham, Airto Moreira and James Moody. Each composition on the album reflects and fuses the different inspirations of Adar Broshi from Bach to Thelonious Monk and Stevie Wonder.
The album title “Songs From A Dream” refers to the last song “Due to Love” which was conceived in a dream Adar had in the summer of 2018 of a gospel choir of men and women singing this tune in two voices.
The recording and mastering are a feat of audiophile sound quality with the powerful yet subtle tone of a $160,000 Concert Steinway D piano.
All proceeds from album sales are donated to medical research of Childhood Cancer.
