NEW ORLEANS, LA: The 12th annual Satchmo SummerFest will be held August 2-5 at the Louisiana State Museum's Old U.S. Mint.
The festival is dedicated to the life, legacy and music of New Orleans' native son, Louis Satchmo" Armstrong. It will feature three days of seminars about the history and influence of jazz music in New Orleans and about Armstrong's life and talent.
The festival is free and open to the public. Stages will feature music from some of the city's finest traditional jazz, contemporary jazz and brass bands, as well as children's programming.
Satchmo SummerFest also will host special events such as a Jazz Mass at the historic St. Augustine Church in Treme and a traditional second line parade.
