The Andre Canniere Group, formed in early 2005, performs challenging yet accessible music full of evocative harmonic explorations and insinuating grooves. Much of the music, all of which is composed by Canniere, is rooted in jazz, but also draws heavily upon other genres including pop, classical, folk and world music. Recently the group was in the studio working on their first recording, which will be available in late 2005.
Andre Canniere (trumpet, composer) - Andre Canniere graduated from the Eastman School of Music in 2003 where he received a Master’s Degree in Jazz Performance. In the fall of 2003 he moved to New York City and is now performing and recording with a variety of musicians in several ensembles. He has performed with some of New York’s most respected jazz musicians including the Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra, Donny McCaslin, Ben Monder, Rich Perry, Chris Potter and Jeff Ballard.
