The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County announces the return of the annual Jazz Roots series to the Center's Knight Concert Hall for the 2021-2022 season offering another incredible cast of jazz All-Stars beginning on November 5th, 2021 with “The Creation"-world premiere performance by legendary pianist Chucho Valdes and the Yoruban Orchestra as the icon celebrates his 80th birthday. The Creation concert was commissioned by the Arsht Center and it explores the biblical story of creation according to the “Regla de Ocha, Afro-Cuban religion known as “Santeria."
The Jazz Roots 2021-2022 season presents a program of lively jazz headliners sure to provide six engaging and memorable evenings of jazz as scheduled below:
Celebrating his 80th birthday and an extraordinary musical career.
Five-time Grammy Award-winner to headline an incredible show with opening act provided by the Brandon Goldberg Trio
Vocal powerhouse songstress honors the legendary Nina Simone.
Grammy Award-winning guitarist and composer Pat Metheny with James Francies and Joe Dyson.
Featuring Lizz Wright, Chris Potter, David Sanchez, Etienne Charles, Warren Wolf, Edward Simon, Aneesa Strings and Kendrick Scott.
Grammy Award-winning Brazilian vocalist and multi-Grammy Award-winning composer-arranger-conductor Vince Mendoza and the Frost Concert Jazz Band, with opening act by the John Daversa Quintet.
Jazz Roots 2021-2022 is also presented with generous support from Baldwin Richardson Foods, Quint Family Foundation, Alan and Diane Lieberman and Steinway & Sons, the official piano of the Adrienne Arsht Center.
Jazz Roots 2021-2022 series subscriptions, which include tickets to all six performances, are on sale to the public Beginning June 1st with seating priority given to renewing subscribers. Packages range from $193-$562 by calling (305) 949-6722.
