A.D.G. Productions proudly announces the release of Ultra Smooth Jazz Grooves series. Written by Frank Villafranca and Andrew D. Gordon (both noted international authors, musicians and recording artists), the Ultra Smooth Jazz Grooves series is part of over 150 instructional books released by A.D.G. Productions.

Ultra Smooth Jazz Grooves are intuitive manuals written by working musicians who understand the industry demands specific to the Smooth Jazz genre. The Ultra Smooth Jazz Grooves series is available in instrumentation for Bb (tenor), Eb (alto), guitar, piano/keyboards, violin (recorded by Christian Howes violinist extraordinaire) and flute (coming soon). The creation of the books came about after Villafranca and Gordon (also known as The Super Groovers) received worldwide airplay with the release of their Supergroovin' CD. Always the consummate educators, Villafranca and Gordon became interested in teaching their smooth grooves to students. However, what they quickly learned was that while there were many books instructing students on the traditional form of Jazz, there were very few instructing musicians on the techniques specific to Smooth Jazz.

“We recognized a need in the music publishing business for a series of books on contemporary improvising within the “Smooth Jazz" genre," said Gordon. “Our goal is to provide quality instructional materials that are interesting enough to appeal to musicians of all levels."

More about Ultra Smooth Jazz Grooves:
This 46-page educational manual with supporting CD outlines specific techniques for establishing the Smooth Jazz style. It is designed to suit the needs of beginning, intermediate and advanced students of Jazz.

Featuring a variety of contemporary rhythm section styles like R&B, Jazz, Funk, Rock, Gospel, Hip Hop, Latin and Top 40, Ultra Smooth Jazz Grooves provides an in-depth guide to the world of Smooth Jazz. Students who are familiar with the style of artists like David Sanborn, Chris Botti, Kirk Whalum, Boney James and Kenny G, will find Ultra Smooth Jazz Grooves to be an invaluable primer.

The instructional method utilized in the book works on the premise of dividing 20 track samples into three different melodic ideas. Each example (melody or “riff") is played first with a specific groove. Then, the student will hear just the rhythm section without the melody. Three examples are given with each groove as the melody becomes increasingly difficult.
