About Solidad Decosta:

Musician/author/video artist Solidad Decosta is an uppity Portuguese woman who isn't afraid to claim her black latina maternal ancestry. Equal parts street journalist, storyteller and crone-ta-be with leo moon credentials, her work encompasses the why and where of life outside the boxes in a label obsessed world, and the what, when, who and how of everything else. As Sins Invalid co-director Patty Berne says, solidad is a “Powerhouse of a Performer."

Solidad has performed at a variety of venues throughout the US, including St. Marks (NYC), Olsson's Books (DC), Robin's Books (Philadelphia), Da' Poetry Lounge, Antioch University and Pitzer College (LA, CA), Bumpershoot Literary Stage (Seattle, WA), The Green Mill (Chicago), University of California at Sacramento and numerous San Francisco Bay Area locations, including SomARTS, City Lights, Modern Times Books, SF LBGT Pride Mainstage, New College of CA, San Francisco State University, The LAB and The SF LGBT Center. solidad has also created several experimental video pieces and has been a performance workshop facilitator with Cell Space, STARC, The Dancing Tree, SF Juvenile Hall and Alameda County Youth Facility. My Own Private Revolution is her first solo piano album.
