Acclaimed Vocalist Changamiré Partners With The Black Restaurant Group For Album Release Party And 33rd Annual Takoma Park Street Festival

Washington, D.C. – Since announcing the debut of her latest album, critically acclaimed D.C. artist Changamire has created buzz by joining forces with Republic, the Black Restaurant Group’s newest offering. As a kickoff to the Takoma Park Street Festival, the two plan to offer fans an incredible Love-themed release party at Republic, with live performances, sensational food and unbelievable giveaways. The release party is Saturday, October 4, 2014, 3–5pm, at Republic, 6939 Laurel Ave, Takoma Park, Maryland.

Fans and guests to the October 4, 2014, Love listening party can expect two hours of professional jazz, sublime music and surprise appearances at the casual yet refined bistro Republic. Guests will also find themselves in love with Republic’s eclectic ambience and plush red velvet interior, as well as the exquisite seasonally driven menu – a trait that has become synonymous with the Black Restaurant Group name.

Such a party is a welcome introduction to the Sunday, October 5, 2014, Takoma Park Street Festival. It’s predicted that more than 10,000 people will converge on Takoma Park over the course of the weekend for food, festivities and artisan products. Attendees can get into the album Love’s sultry, dance-invoking and addictive sound, as well as sample Republic’s ingenious Love menu – created especially for the event. In keeping with the love theme, the dashing and renowned trumpeter Donvonte McCoy will host as MC, as acoustic and a cappella performers Lincoln Ross of the Dead Black Jedis (alternative group), 7th Mark (spoken word artist), award- winning writer Louise Gray, and, of course, Changamiré, take listeners on a journey through the many facets of love and heartbreak.

In addition to world-class entertainment presented by critically acclaimed Changamiré, lucky festival attendees have the chance to win love-themed giveaways from a variety of unique and upscale boutiques and companies: LA Executive Custom Clothier, Le Printemps, Now & Then, FRANK, Love Is A Mountain, SiTea, Constellation Theatre Company, and more. A Lost Apostle pendant will be auctioned as well, with all proceeds going to the Children's National Foundation. This 501(c)3 organization has a hand in transforming the health of children in low-income families throughout the Washington, D.C. area, as well as around the world, by assuming their healthcare costs. With the Black Restaurant Group’s long-time support of Children’s National Medical Center – and Changamiré’s charitable efforts for low-income neighborhoods in Washington, D.C. – both are pleased to support the foundation.

 About Changamiré

While Changamiré’s 2001 debut album, Only Human, rose to critical acclaim, the vocalist co- founded Sonnig Records, a label that promotes the sounds of talented artists, as well as her own. With self- released projects under her belt and her management of projects for other artists, she also authors and instructs Recording Project 101®, a proprietary, innovative program that teaches students how to navigate the recording process, meeting great success at the D.C. Music Center, Northern Virginia Community College and U.S. News-ranked Howard University. Changamiré is on the Washington Performing Arts’ Women’s Committee and the board for the Black Women Playwrights’ Group.
