A Dominican Trifecta To Be On Stage At The South Florida Dominican Jazz Fest

Recently Jazz en Dominicana and Landestoy Enterprises informed that in Miami on Friday, October 19th, during the celebrations of Hispanic Heritage Month, they will be presenting - The South Florida Dominican Jazz Fest. A multicultural event will bring to Florida the best jazz being performed by musicians in the Dominican Republic and Dominicans living abroad.

The organizing committee now informs that they have added a third band with which a - Dominican Trifecta - has been competed for this first version of the Festival.

Exciting presentations by three groups that are based in the Dominican Republic, New York City and Miami. They will play various genres of Jazz in fusions with the rich native rhythms of the Dominican Republic.

GROUPS

From Miami, hosting and kicking off the Fest:

Alejandro Vargas “Colita” y su Caribbean Jazz, a quartet of experienced musicians, who under the leadership of “Colita" Vargas, will give jazz lovers, the rhythms of merengue and bachata in Swing time. This will be the debut of Caribbean Jazz, but “Colita" has played - with other notable musicians, including Jose Antonio Molina, Jorge Taveras, Bertico Sosa, Manuel Tejada - different venues in the world. The accompanying musicians are: Jose Emilio Valenzuela (drums), Eduardo Sama (bass) and Rubiel Cabrera (tenor saxophone).

From the Dominican Republic:

Oscar Micheli Trio (Oscar Micheli on piano, Guy Frometa, on drums and Abed Nego De Los Santos on bass), blends intimate Pan-Dominican rhythms with many Jazz styles, which in turn give it a warm sophisticated elegant mixture of sounds. Micheli and his trio have participated in many local and international events alongside major players such as Arturo Sandoval, Chucho Valdes, Giovanni Hidalgo, David Sánchez, Felle Vega, Nestor Torres and others. His CD Swimming Notes was arranged, produced, and partially written by Micheli.

From New York and closing out the evening:

Alex Diaz & his Merengue Jazz is a quintet of very well known jazz musicians from New York, under the leadership of Dominican Conga player Alex Diaz. Alex has played with Tito Puente, Mario Rivera, {{Mario Bauzá, Dizzy Gillespie and many more. His format is marrying jazz and merengue in a very tasteful way – taking jazz standards into merengue rhythms and tempos, and vice- versa.

HIGHLIGHTS

The bands that will be performing are considered top performers locally and internationally – the mix of styles will make for an exciting and electrifying foot stomping jazz concert!!!

The South Florida Dominican Jazz Fest will also be broadcast, via live streaming, to thousands of people in the Internet - through the official event page, sfdominicanjazzfest.com - and all social media, such as Facebook and Twitter in order to reach music lovers worldwide.

For one complete evening, jazz lovers from Miami and all over the State of Florida will be able to fully enjoy the best talents from the Dominican Republic and the United States.
