Dear All About Jazz Readers,

If you're familiar with All About Jazz, you know that we've dedicated over two decades to supporting jazz as an art form, and more importantly, the creative musicians who make it. Our enduring commitment has made All About Jazz one of the most culturally important websites of its kind in the world reaching hundreds of thousands of readers every month. However, to expand our offerings and develop new means to foster jazz discovery we need your help.

You can become a sustaining member for a modest $20 and in return, we'll immediately hide those pesky Google ads PLUS deliver exclusive content and provide access to future articles for a full year! This combination will not only improve your AAJ experience, it will allow us to continue to rigorously build on the great work we first started in 1995. Read on to view our project ideas...

Nearly 23 years in the making, All About Jazz continues to blaze a trail for jazz online.
2017 was an exciting year for both All About Jazz and Jazz Near You as our vision for the future came into greater focus and was reflected in our various achievements.

We continued to explore new technologies, establish partnerships with industry leaders, and improve what has become the most advanced technical platform in jazz. Most of our accomplishments were a direct result of the support we received from our members through our ongoing fund drive. Your generous contributions made it possible for us to rapidly develop projects spanning areas that have come to represent what All About Jazz does best: publish compelling content daily, promote music discovery, network jazz people, aggregate and distribute event data, and offer web-based promotional services for jazz professionals.

So, thank you staff, fund drive supporters, advertisers, and jazz fans everywhere!

Our 2017 highlights:

  • We developed to support a network of home concert presenters resulting in more performance opportunities for jazz musicians.
  • We finalized work with Ticketmaster/Ticketweb and eTix to import their events. Combined with our existing affiliations with Instantseats, Ticketfly, and Brown Paper Tickets, we continue to forge ahead with event aggregation to make Jazz Near You a rich source for concert information.
  • Jazz Near You now supports more event types including house concerts, jazz camps, vespers, meet ups, and film screenings.
  • We greatly improved the Jazz Near You event submission form. It's as easy as 1-2-3!
  • We relaunched All About Jazz Italy at
  • We improved our website search. Click the magnifying glass icon in the top right corner to search by albums, articles, news, image tags, musician names, and more!
  • We launched In Pictures—a photo essay column that showcases the work of jazz photographers.
  • We developed several new promotional services including a photo slideshow ad, Facebook post and boost, and we expanded the spotlight service to include venues and festivals.
  • We upgraded the premium musician page service to include Facebook event import and external article linking.
  • You can take a deeper dive into our articles and news with tags!
  • We moved all media files (MP3s and JPGs) to the cloud. This greatly reduced the size of our daily backups, protected us from accidental file deletions, and allowed us to drop one of our two servers providing cost savings in the process. Thanks to all who helped fund this essential project!
  • We launched several new columns including Beauty, Love and Justice: Living A Coltranian Life, Mixcloud, Forests of Sound, and we published Vic Schermer's epic 6-part / 33 page series The Many Faces of Jazz Today under the increasingly popular What Is Jazz? column.
  • We developed a snazzy new page to showcase our featured articles and news. It's modern, infinitely loads, and will help you discover old articles you may have missed. See
