2002 Verizon Music Festival Set For September 30th through October 6th

Once again Verizon has put together another fantastic series of concerts and festivals in various venues, and locations around Southern California from September 30, through October 6, 2002. Premier performances by: The Billy Mitchell Trio, Lea DeLaria and Jazz Classics featuring Patrice Rush and Ndugu Chancler. Additionally, Bela Fleck, Al Jarreau, and Chris Botti. Also, there are free outdoor concerts and festivals as well, featuring the great pianist and vocalist Ray Charles, and other artist of notable recognition, artist such as Toshi Reagon, Julieta Venegas, Gerald Clayton, and Eugene Maslov.

The Billy Mitchell Trio will jump-start the 2002 Verizon Music Festival, followed later that evening by Teddy Pendergrass, September 30, at 8:30 pm on the UCLA campus, at Royce Hall.

On the evening of October 1, Verizon will open with the sensational Jazz Vocalist Lea Delaria, and the Jazz Classics featuring, pianist Patrice Rushen and Drummer, Nudugu Chancler, at the Center Theatre in Long Beach at 8:00 pm.

Vintage banjo performer Bela Fleck will rouse the audience with his amazing blends of bluegrass, jazz, and pop sounds. Bela takes center stage with his band the Flecktones, October 2, 8:00 pm at Royce Hall.
