New York, NY—On Monday, November 29, 2010 the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District (BID) celebrates the “most wonderful time of the year" in NYC with Winter's Eve 2010 at Lincoln Square, NYC's largest outdoor holiday festival.

The festivities begin at Dante Park, Broadway and 63rd Street, at 5:30 pm with the Upper West Side's traditional Neighborhood Tree Lighting ceremony, which is sponsored by the BID and will feature WABC-TV's Sade Baderinwa. This year, the tree will be adorned with giant lollipops from Hammond's Candies® of Denver and huge gingerbread men from NYC's Soutine Bakery, all glittered with the artistic touch of Glitterlimes and in partnership with the American Folk Art Museum. Winter's Eve continues through 9:00pm—along Broadway from the Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle to 68th Street—with FREE entertainment at over 15 venues, a neighborhood food tasting from over 25 area restaurants, and fun family activities for kids and parents alike.

This year's musical entertainment includes the world-renowned guitarist/singer JOHN PIZZARELLI and Israeli jazz sensation ANAT COHEN WITH AVISHAI COHEN and special guests. The Winter's Eve Dance Tent is back headlining legendary fiddler EILEEN IVERS, who has been called “the Jimi Hendrix of the violin" by The New York Times, accompanied by Immigrant Soul, for what promises to be an amazing evening of tradition and dance. Kids' Central at the American Bible Society features music sensation KIDROCKERS with free cupcakes for kids compliments of Magnolia Bakery; the second floor of the Time Warner Center hosts performers from the Big Apple Circus and Jazz at Lincoln Center. Dante Park will pulsate with the rhythms of the Columbian band Chia's Dance Party, while Richard Tucker Park throbs with the sounds of Harlem Samba.

Neighborhood institutions including WNET.ORG Studios at Lincoln Center, Samsung Experience, the Apple Store, Upper West Side and Lincoln Center's David Rubenstein Atrium will be open to the public with festivities and area retailers, such as Bed Bath & Beyond, Gracious Home, TD Bank, lululemon athletica, Best Buy, and countless others welcome visitors with special events and fun activities. Sidewalks come alive with more than 20 outdoor performing groups, including marching and rhythm bands, puppeteers, ethnic dancers, musicians, ice sculpting and more, filling Lincoln Square with holiday cheer.

Over two dozen of Lincoln Square's finest restaurants will join together for a neighborhood food tasting from 6:00 to 8:30pm, to offer a diverse sampling of signature dishes (nominal cost of $1 to $4). The food tastings will be held outdoors under tents at Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle, along Broadway between 63rd and 64th Streets, and at Richard Tucker Park between 65th and 66th Streets. Also for first time, Telepan and BR Guest's new Atlantic Grill will join the Winter's Eve walk-around tasting, which will include tastes from Asiate, A Voce, Bar Boulud, Bar Masa, Bouchon Bakery, Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, Café Fiorello, Gabriel's, Josephina, le Pain Quotdien, La Boite en Bois, Landmarc, Magnolia Bakery, PJ Clarke's, Picholine, Rosa Mexicano, Sapphire Indian Cuisine, Soutine Bakery, Sushi a-go-go, 'wichcraft and many others. Restaurants are encouraged to donate a portion of their proceeds to City Harvest—the official charitable partner of Winter's Eve for the third year. The public is encouraged to bring canned food to Kids' Central at the American Bible Society and various drop-off spots throughout Lincoln Square.
