The news of a new version of a Jazz Festival in the Dominican Republic is reason to celebrate and be joyful, even more so when it is of a festival that has earned the respect and admiration of musicians and jazz lovers all over the country and recognition around the jazz world.

This is the case with the DR Jazz Festival, which arrives at it's tenth version and will be celebrated from November 6-8 on the beach on the island's north coast town of Cabarete, worldwide renown for Kite and Wind Surfing.

Every year Lorenzo Sancassani, Niurka Rodriguez, Dario Nicodemo and the artist Adolfo Farihnton (his artwork adorns the poster in this article) and the rest of the staff of Cabarete Events provide a festival program of excellent quality, musically and artistically, of world class musicians mixed with very high level local acts. The Festival is an effort to promote the area of Cabarete, providing the opportunity of attending a major jazz fest while being able to enjoy the world class beaches.

Each year the additional highlights include the Saturday morning workshops and Master Classes, the Saturday afternoon Youth Concerts that motivate the young ones to take up, study and develop their musical talents and the Saturday Night Instrument Encounter (a full blown Jam Session whose star is the instrument chosen and it's players), this year--the saxophone.

The countdown has begun.
