Youtube Unveils Major Overhaul, Upgrades for Content Creators [videos]

Just one month after announcing more than 100 new exclusive content partners, YouTube has unveiled its biggest site overhaul ever.  The new design is intended to encourage users to spend more time on the site and make the experience more like watching TV.  With these updates, come some major improvements for content creators including:

A cleaner homepage which displays a customizable list of channels for registered users.

Latest activity—By clicking on a channel in the left navigation bar, users can see the latest activity there in the center field.

New channel designs—YouTube knows that different uploaders have different goals, so they've created new Channel templates to meet their needs whether they produce one video a week or have thousands of videos to browse. Here's a quick video overview of the new channel designs:



New feed options allow users to follow the activity and favorite of others.

Channel owners can message followers directly without posting a video (i.e—"We've just added new Poco tour dates on our site http://www.poconut.org/")

Add outgoing links on a channel page to outside sites like a blog, online marketplace and Facebook page.

3 different video viewing sizes: regular, medium or full view

Improved search.
