Women Get Their Groove On With Incredible, Percussive Participation During “Hit Like A Girl”; Voting Ends April 15 With A Live Show Featuring Finalists April 19

San Jose, Calif., —Enter Music Publishing today reported incredible, rhythmic results for the “Hit Like A Girl” drum competition. From February 1 through April 15, 350 get-your-groove-on girls uploaded videos; 300,000 votes were cast during that time. Additionally, 750,000 visits were recorded over the same time period to the link hitlikeagirl2012.com

The Final Cut On DrumChannel Aug. 19

The 15 finalists will be announced this week at a special live webcast on Drumchannel.com at 4 PM PST The live show on April 19th will reveal the finalists and play clips of their performances. In addition drummers such as Dawn Richardson and Facebook star Meytal Cohen, plus other celebrity drummers and host Don Lombardi will be on the program. Drumchannel's regular Thursday night webcast draws an audience of thousands of drummers from around the world.

Sheila E and Company; Determining The DRUM Fate Then, the celebrity judges, which include Sheila E, Susie Ibarra (Jazz), Kimberly Thompson (Beyonce), Dawn Richardson (4 Non Blondes), Jess Bowen (Summer Set), Hannah Ford (Drum Clinician) will choose the top three prize winners from among the finalists. Winners will be announced May 1.

Who Put On The Hit?

Hit LIke a Girl: The Contest For Female Drummers is the brainchild of TRX Cymbals, DRUM! Magazine and Tom Tom: A Magazine For Female Drummers.

They put together a group of leading industry sponsors including Evans Drumheads, Crush Drums, Vater Sticks, SKB Cases, Drumchannel.com, Alfred Publishing, and School Of Rock to develop the contest. The top prize winner receives a Crush Drum set plus cymbals, sticks, heads, and cases. And more than 100 entrants will receive prizes in all.
