June 28th at Dakota Bar & Grill in Minneapolis the venue of choice among top notch musicians, featured guests will include Mulgrew Miller, Warren Wolf, Joe Sanders and DJ Dummy.

The Karriem Riggins Virtuoso Experience presented by Vtech, featuring Mulgrew Miller and Pete Rock, is far more than another jazz or hip-hop show. Fans will have an opportunity to experience a 21st century virtuoso, a man Common calls “one of the greatest musicians that I have ever come across. Anytime I hear Karriem create music or hear him play, I am reminded of how wonderful music can be."

The evening begins with an explosive drum and DJ showcase pairing Riggins and legendary hip-hop producer Pete Rock, as they weave a mix of soul, hip-hop and jazz. Next, a special premiere of the Karriem Riggins Quartet featuring master musician Mulgrew Miller on piano and rhodes. In a 1995 New York Times poll consisting of his peers, Miller was voted the most in demand pianist. Miller is credited with over 400 recordings as a leader and sideman.

Riggins has played in the past with a dizzying cross-section of artists spanning the hip-hop and jazz worlds: Herbie Hancock, Diana Krall, Roy Hargrove, J Dilla, Madlib, Ray Brown, Oscar Peterson, Milt Jackson, Erykah Badu on her New Amerykah (4th World War) CD, as well as countless other jazz, future soul & hip hop releases, including work with Common and The Roots. This series of shows will be Riggins' first as a leader and will feature material from his upcoming 2010 release. Riggins says, “I'm incorporating elements from various genres and fusing them together in a way that's thought-provoking."

Music has been a part of the VTech brand for many years. The company has combined its wireless innovation with an understanding of consumer music tastes gleaned through sponsorship of a variety of concerts, music events and festivals nationwide. To promote the coming launch of the IS9181, VTech recently presented the “Timeless Concert Series" in conjunction with music production company Mochilla.

The three-part series in Los Angeles paid homage to arrangers and composers from around the world such as Mulatu Astatke and Arthur Verocai who have influenced hip-hop since the 1970s. VTech has also sponsored special events at the annual South by Southwest Music (SXSW) Conference in Austin and the Winter Music Conference (WMC) in Miami.
