The Jazz Bridge First Wednesdays Neighborhood Concerts Series at the Cheltenham Center for the Arts, 439 Ashbourne Road in Cheltenham PA, presents vocalist Shakera Jones on Wednesday, March 5th. Showtime is 7:30 p.m., tickets are $10/$5 for students, and are only available at the door. For info: 215-517-8337 or visit Jazz Bridge.

Shakera Jones has been singing since the age of four. Influenced by her parents’ love for jazz, she attended Temple University's Esther Boyer College of Music, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music. Her early repertoire focused on jazz standards, but she began writing original material during later studies at University of the Arts. Jones, who has worked with dozens of area greats, including Mickey Roker, Orrin Evans and Tim Warfield, has a unique style, tremendous range and technique, and beautifully combines her jazz and R & B influences to fashion “sultry jazz with a touch of soul.”

Jazz Bridge, a 501C3 nonprofit organization formed in 2004, is dedicated to assisting professional Greater Philadelphia Metro area jazz and blues musicians and vocalists in times of crisis by providing confidential and caring support in keeping with their personal dignity. Through donations, grants, and the presentation of more than 40 jazz events each year, Jazz Bridge assists those coping with emergencies involving health, legal, financial, personal and professional needs, while building an awareness of the local jazz community's rich heritage and tradition.
