After working in a production capacity for the Mike Douglas Show, and later as Music Director for exercise guru Richard Simmons, she returned to her first love, jazz singing. . Her recordings of Little Sunflower and Trinity were honored with the Blue Chip Award for Best Jazz Vocals by Dr. Herb Wong of the International Association of Jazz Educators. Barbara Montgomery is also extremely active as a jazz journalist, event and concert producer, educator, and vocal advocate and volunteer on behalf of a number of charitable causes. As a jazz vocalist, Montgomery has never taken the easy road, instead performing challenging and often innovative material with an unparalleled technique and respect for the tradition of jazz and jazz singing.
