Tribute to Lester Young with the Brad Linde Ensemble

The Brad Linde Ensemble celebrates the 100th Birthday of Tenor Saxophonist Lester Young with several performances in 2009.

On August 26, 2009, the Brad Linde Ensemble pays tribute to the “President of the Tenor Saxophone" at Washington DC's historic Bohemian Caverns. Show starts at 8pm and will feature tenor saxophonists Brian Settles, Charles Phaneuf, Matt Rippetoe, and Sarah Hughes on new arrangements by Brad Linde and Matt Musselman. www.bohemiancaverns.com

On August 28, 2009, the ensemble features tenor saxophonists Ted Brown, Lena Bloch, and Chris Byars in a Centennial Celebration of Lester Young at Smalls Jazz Club in New York City. The ensemble will perform arrangements by Brad Linde, Matt Musselman, and Bill Holman. Sets at 7:30pm and 9pm. smallsjazzclub.com

On September 20, 2009, the Brad Linde Ensemble visits the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for “A Jazz Celebration: The Birth of the Cool at 60 and Lester Young's Centennial". Performance at Hill Hall Auditorium is $5.00 and features special guest, Jim Ketch on trumpet. 7:30pm start time. unc.edu
