TIMUCIN SAHIN TRIO

Having been utilizing and deepening the concepts of contemporary jazz as well as contemporary classical and south Indian music for some time, Sahin's music nevertheless demands a lot from his band members.

In his trio setting he's working with one of the best electric bassist of today's improvised music Kai Eckhardt and very unique drummer Owen Hart Jr. from NYC. The reason that Sahin chose for these 2 magnificent players as his rhythm section has to do with the paralleities of them among the others.

Trio released their album from Kalan Music entitled “WINDOW FOR MY BREATH" recently.

Being an African rooted bassist, Eckhardt had worked with John Mc Laughlin Trio and has been exposed to other many other musical traditons. Hart is working with Sahin more than 2 years now and he's bringing his own approach to Sahin's compositions.

John Kelman said:

With a voracious musical appetite that includes African, Indian and more traditional western jazz and contemporary classical music, Sahin has fashioned a sound that is an intriguing blend." All about Jazz march 2004

Timucin Sahin also utilizes live electronics with this setting. Electronics became part of his vision lately and the reviews that he got for his usage of live electronics are always excellent. The President, Electronic Music Foundation The Joel Chadabe said:

REWIEWS -PRESS QUOTES ABOUT SAHIN'S MUSIC;

“Timucin Sahin's album shows how far away from the American tradition jazz has drifted, all the while remaining vibrant and true to its essence." John Kelman All About Jazz February 2004

“Virtuoso guitarist on his double neck (fretless) instrument with outstanding improvisations" “Sahin is a perfectionist. As a composer he works out every detail." Jur Naessens Music Award 2002

“Timucin Sahin's unique compositional approach, keen sense of improvisation and his interplay of music style from jazz, contemporary and non- western music intrigued me." Mike Maineri

“I wish to say that I think Timucin Sahin an original composer of a variety of music which is difficult to categorize. His music is drawn from a wide body of knowledge and experience, often developed from his considerable skills as a guitarist. In his solo performances as well as with other musicians, he sometimes employs improvisation but in ways hard to separate from the sound of his notated music. This I find noteworthy. His music is characterized by a delicacy of instrumental imagination and rhythmic structures which have much flexibility though clearly pulse derived." Nils Vigeland ,Chair, Dep Composition MSM 27 May 2003

“After listening to Slick Road we can easily say that, very soon Sahin will take his place as a major artist of the contemporary jazz of today." Orhan Kahyaoglu, Radikal (Turkish National Newspaper) 2.November 2003

“Sahin has chops galore yet remains tastefully restrained, a gritty fusion player." Jazzwise may 2004
