The latest edition of Bret Jazz Video Guy Primack's video blog is There Will Never Be Another Michael Brecker.

Features a rare video performance of the Saxophone Summit live, from December 18, 1999 at Birdland. The video includes a brief interview with Michael and his solo on “There Will Never Be Another You." The rhythm section includes Phil Markowitz on piano, Rufus Reid on bass, and Billy Hart, on drums.

“That was a magic night," Primack remembers, “because the three sax players, Michael, David Liebman and Joe Lovano, inspired each other. It wasn't a battle but unique amalgam of three very individual creators in a musical vehicle whose sum was greater than its parts. That doesn’t happen very often but when it does, it’s the essence of Jazz itself."

Primack believes he was “quite lucky to know and work with Michael on this project. I've been watching the tape of that night's two sets for nearly a decade and his playing remains a source of amazement, made only more poignant with his passing two years ago. I can only hope that this heartfelt encomium will keep his message alive, and through the medium of web video, his music will be seen and heard in new places, all over the planet.”
