The September Concert: The Heart of Jazz for 9/11- now in its 10th Year. On Thursday, September 11, 40 of NYC’s top jazz artists will meet at Somethin' Jazz Club, 212 E 52nd St. NYC from 7pm - 1am, to play their take on various facets of that wretched day & its aftermath. They’ll be playing it all “through their horn," offering ongoing community and the healing nature of jazz as a gift to our fellow New Yorkers.

There is no cover for this concert; this one is from the heart. Attendees are free to come & leave throughout the evening as they choose. Somethin' Jazz's cash bar and light menu will be available throughout the evening.

Each year these talents come together, unrehearsed; they listen deeply, opening their hearts to each other—and profound and deeply swinging music emerges, responding to what happened to each of us and to our beloved city on that fateful day.

Over its first 9 years, more than 160 top area jazz artists have contributed their singular view to this uniquely New York musical event; many have returned for multiple years. The artist roster for this year includes:

Bass: Cameron Brown, Tim Ferguson, Hilliard Greene, Ratzo B. Harris, Harvie S, Christopher Dean Sullivan

Vocal: Kate Baker, Linda Ciofalo, Lainie Cooke, E. J. Decker, Melissa Hamilton, Sheila Jordan, Judy Niemack, Anne Phillips, Gabriele Tranchina, Roseanna Vitro

Drums: David F. Gibson, Gene Lewin, Art Lillard, Peter Runnells, Michael T.A. Thompson, Yutaka Uchida
