The Cecil Taylor Art Museum Benefit will be held on September 14, 2011 at Brooklyn Borough Hall in Downtown Brooklyn. The venue is being donated for this event by Brooklyn's Borough President Marty Markowitz.
The Benefit will feature a vast assortment of speakers, poets, and musicians. The list of performers can be found here:
The focus of the Benefit is to raise funds through donations for the construction of the Cecil Taylor Art Museum in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Mr. Taylor's vision is to convert part of his house in Fort Greene into a museum where he can share his collection of photos, posters, recordings, and memorabilia with the public, which spans over sixty-five years as a recording artist and live performer.
