The 12th Thailand International Jazz Conference, or TIJC 2020, is just around the corner. This year’s event will be even better than before. Held under the theme of “Jazz for All”, it will feature the largest gathering of world-class jazz artists, from January 31 to February 2, 2020, at the College of Music, Mahidol University’s Salaya Campus.

Among the world’s leading jazz artists to join the TIJC 2020 is Ozmosys, the foremost jazz project led by world-renowned drummer Omar Hakim from the legendary jazz fusion band Weather Report. Hakim has worked with several internationally acclaimed artists including Miles Davis, Michael Jackson and Madonna. A highlight of the Ozmosys shows will be a jam session with guitar ace Kurt Rosenwinkel, who is well known for his powerful style influenced by a variety of musical genres. Rosenwinkel also will play with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, a rare collaboration and another highlight of the event.

Saxophone fans should get ready to meet Javon Jackson, who is coming with his quartet along with pianist Jeremy Manasia, drummer Charles Ruggiero and bassist David Williams. Another leading saxophonist Chris Cheek will jam with the band led by Australia’s master drummer Rajiv Jayaweera. Moreover, you will be able to enjoy jazz in the form of electronic music performed by Loop Doctors, a contemporary jazz duo from Eastern Europe. Loop Doctors’ music is a medley of different genres, including jazz, drum 'n' bass, and hip-hop, performed with exciting new styles. Singaporean jazz pianist Jeremy Monteiro will jam with the Jazz Association Singapore Orchestra (JASSO) in a Big Band style. Also, popular Thai music groups of the pop and soul genres, namely The Parkinson and Nanglen Band, will perform for the fans along with more than 50 big bands from around the country.

In addition to the musical performances, there will be educational activities such as Jazz Camp and music workshops by world-class masters and Thai jazz gurus. TIJC is a music event that is truly an art. The participating artists enjoy playing music to the fullest and the audience members take pleasure in fine music. Many leading jazz artists of the world will never miss this event.
