Chris Potter Joins Herbie Hancock Line Up

Labeled as one of the finest saxophonists of his generation, Chris Potter replaces guitarist Lionel Loueke in the Herbie Hancock Quartet. The Herbie Hancock Quartet performs on Tuesday, June 26 as part of the GRANDMASTERS Series, presented by Panasonic. The Quartet is rounded out with Vinnie Colaiuta on drums and Nathan East on bass.

Also appearing that night are three gifted students from the Yamaha School of Music. Fourteen-year-old Maria Kundakcioglu, Annette Wong aged 13 and Nathalin Moy, also aged 13, will each perform at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, as the opening act that night. Each will play their own compositions and are currently enrolled in the Yamaha Music School, a program dedicated to nurturing young talent.

Celebrate the best of Canada with Canada's very best jazz festival! Presented by Primus, Canada Day at the TD Canada Trust Toronto Jazz Festival is hosting festivities all day long starting with a free concert at 1pm with, From Ragtime to Swing. At 4pm, Ashley Wey & Warriors for Peace with Baby Boyz takes the stage merging the worlds of jazz with an urban hip-hop dance troupe. This performance is also free. The fourth annual Groove & Graffiti takes over the square at 3:30pm as high school students and top aerosol artists, Eliscer and Mediah create aerosol art on canvas. In the evening, soul and gospel legend Mavis Staples closes the festival with music from her acclaimed CD, We'll Never Turn Back; Rebirth Brass Band will also be performing. Tickets are $35 and available at Ticketmaster.

Mike Relm Moved to Revival

The Mike Relm concert scheduled for Friday, June 20 has been moved from the MOD Club now to Revival at 783 College Street.

A multimedia DJ, Mike Relm's live performances combine audio mash- ups with video images manipulated in real time. Relm has peformed with Jurassic 5, Blackalicious, Money Mark, Gift of Gab and was most recently seen on tour with Blue Man Group.
