Hosted by Michael Konik & His Tasty Band, “Tasty Tuesdays" has become the premier showcase for some of Los Angeles's leading jazz and blues vocal talents, many of whom relish the opportunity to perform upon Catalina's famous red velvet stage. Catalina Popescu, proprietor of the club, said, “We are delighted to welcome back Michael Konik & His Tasty Band and all the wonderful guest stars they feature for a third year! Michael is a charming singer and host. He and the talented musicians who join him have made Tuesdays one of our favorite nights. Every week is different and every week is fun."
Michael Konik's Tasty Band is: Michael Konik (vocals), Eli Brueggemann (piano), Tim Emmons (bass), Ken Park (drums), and Kim Richmond (reeds).
Konik, a best-selling author and well-known television personality -- he is the expert analyst on FoxSports poker broadcasts -- is an enthusiastic supporter of local jazz artists. “I love singing with my Tasty Band," he said. “But I'm also proud to present living legends, undiscovered newcomers, and a diverse group of talented artists who deserve a larger audience."
The season opens on March 6th with the Tony Award-winning icon, LINDA HOPKINS, followed on the 13th by the Filipina singing sensation CHARMAINE CLAMOR, and the queen of LA jazz and blues, BARBARA MORRISON. The month concludes with rising star JULIE DAY, whose last performance at Tasty Tuesdays earned her a rave review in the Los Angeles Times.
