SYNERGY Sight and Sound will play at the 12th Annual Vision Festival as part of the matinee program on June 23rd at 3:00 PM. SYNERGY is a multi-media ensemble that weaves the melodic and improvisational Jazz of alto Saxophonist Saco Yasuma with the vibrant costumes, striking masks and unusual instruments of mixed media sculptor Amir Bey. The musicians wear masks and original silkscreen prints on costumes designed and printed by Bey, with the set combining long sheets of fabric and suspended mobile-like percussive instruments. Yasuma's unique compositions range from the forceful to the contemplative. SYNERGY'S personnel includes Ras Moshe, woodwinds, Dave Ross, electric guitar, Christopher Dean Sullivan, bass artisan, and Lou Grassi, drums. This formidable band is known for its innovative approach to music; the sounds and movements of the musicians are visually enhanced, and the audio uses of visual art are explored. An installation by Amir Bey titled Phoenixes to the Sun" will be part of the Vision Festival's art exhibition and will be displayed throughout the festival.
Transportation: the F train to 2nd Avenue; #6 to Bleecker Street; D train to Broadway/Lafayette.
Admission for the matinee program is $30.00
