Steve Gadd & Friends Releases New CD, Live at Voce, Featuring Ronnie Cuber, Paul Bollenback and Joey DeFrancesco

LOS ANGELES, CA: 2010 has been a simply stellar year for Steve Gadd. Between tours, recordings and performances with World-renowned artists such as Eric Clapton, James Taylor, Alain Clark and Edie Brickell, he somehow also managed to record and produce three albums himself, the first of these being Steve Gadd & Friends, Live at Voce.

One of the most influential drummers of all time, Steve Gadd set a new standard in contemporary drumming techniques and performance, and in doing so launched a thousand imitators. Recording legendary drum tracks including “Aja," “Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover," “Late in the Evening," and “Nite Sprite," there is no drummer today who has not been effected by Steve Gadd.

Live at Voce is the debut CD from a band that has been touring sporadically since 2007. Even though Gadd is a master of all genres, it's easy to tell that this is the type of music he truly enjoys playing the most. The music seems to effortlessly breathe with its deep grooves and emotional expressionism. Live at Voce was recorded in an intimate setting in Scottsdale, Arizona, at Voce's Lounge. If you listen with headphones on, it's as if the band is playing right in front of you. You can hear the ambiance of the gig; counting off the tunes, people cheering and clapping, and the clinking of an occasional glass.

On one hand, it's a nod to the past, as Gadd and Cuber played for many years together in The Gadd Gang. But on the other, they're charting new territory with DeFrancesco taking it into the stratophere with the Hammond and Bollenback, painting the canvas with a fusion that seamlessly glues it all together.
