Featuring the
SOUTH FLORIDA JAZZ ORCHESTRA
Under The Direction Of
CHUCK BERGERON

Founded in 2005, the SFJO quickly became the premier big band in the area. Under the direction of former Woody Herman and Buddy Rich Big Band bassist and composer, Chuck Bergeron, the SFJO released their self-titled debut CD featuring Arturo Sandoval and Kevin Mahogany in 2008 to rave national reviews. Sandoval gave the group a regular booking in his Miami Beach nightclub where the band, comprised mostly of South Florida’s leading Jazz educators, studio and professional Jazz musicians, further refined its fresh arrangements and repertoire. Now Trumpet Summit (Mama Records), the SFJO’s sophomore release is hitting hard with Jazz airplay all over the country. The CD features a few golden standards and numerous Bergeron and Brian Lynch originals. You can read more about South Florida’s finest Jazz Big Band on-line as Jazz & Blues Florida has posted the band as their October cover story at JazzBluesFlorida.Com. Also, more info available at SouthFloridaJazzOrchestra.Org.

Please tune in worldwide on our Internet site at WWW.WLRN.Org at 1:00pm, EST on 10/12/12, for the broadcast. Click on the “Listen Online" button and get set to swing!

South Florida Arts Beat is generously co-sponsored by Pollo Tropical and Friends of WLRN.
