South Florida Dominican Jazz Fest presents Dominican accents and flavours to South Florida.

Next Friday, October 19th at 8:00pm the first version of The South Florida Dominican Jazz Fest will be held. The event will be inaugurated by the creators of Festival - Jazz en Dominicana & Landestoy Enterprises, they will be accompanied by the Mayor of Miami, Tomás Regalado and the Chairman Miami-Dade Board of County Commisioners, Joe Martinez.

This multi-cultural event, during one complete evening, present jazz lovers from Miami and all over the State of Florida various genres of Jazz in fusions with the rich native rhythms of the Dominican Republic. Exciting presentations will be made by three groups that are based in the Dominican Republic, New York City and the host, Miami.

From Miami and Hosting: Alejandro Vargas “Colita” y su Caribbean Jazz. This quartet will give jazz lovers, the rhythms of merengue and bachata in Swing time. Vargas on piano will be accompanied by Jose Emilio Valenzuela (drums), Eduardo Sama (bass) and Rubiel Cabrera (tenor saxophone).

From the Dominican Republic: Oscar Micheli Trio. Oscar Micheli Trio (Guy Frometa, on drums and Abednego De Los Santos on bass) blend intimate Pan-Dominican rhythms with many Jazz styles, which in turn give it a warm sophisticated elegant mixture of sounds.

From New York City: Alex Diaz & his Merengue Jazz His format is marrying jazz and merengue in a very tasteful way – taking jazz standards into merengue rhythms and tempos, and vice-versa. Conga player Alex Diaz will be accompanied by Ivan Renta (saxophones), Pedro Bermudez (piano), Ruben Rodriguez (bass) and Willy Martinez (drums)

The South Florida Dominican Jazz Fest will also be broadcast free of charge, via livestreaming, to thousands of people in the Internet - through the official event page.
