6/9/08 - London, UK - The original 'Rock Chick' Sonja Kristina has reunited with her band, progressive rock legends Curved Air, for some summer festival dates, kicking off with the Isle of Wight Festival on 13th June. Sonja Kristina's extravagant and flamboyant stage presence led to her being nicknamed at one point, 'the female Jagger'. The first female lead singer of a rock band in the UK, she blazed the way for bold rock icons from Siouxie Sue to Amy Winehouse.

Sonja was regularly voted Top British Female Vocalist in music-weekly annual polls. And the memory of her led some of those fans in unpredictable directions. Phil Oakey recently recalled, “When I formed The Human League it was because I was such a huge Sonja Kristina fan and I still am".

Sonja lived the rock life to the full, with all the trappings and pitfalls that life as a female rock star entailed. On the edge of a drug-fuelled physical and emotional precipice, she met her long-term partner Stewart Copeland, the whirlwind energy that drove The Police. Stewart's support and that of the other members of Curved Air restored Sonja's health and sanity and she partied on - touring and releasing a series of critically acclaimed albums over the ensuing decades. During their sixteen year relationship, Sonja's artistic explorations and Stewart's megastardom catapulted them both into fantastic adventures on and off the road.

Sonja Kristina's latest recordings are collaborations with Marvin Ayres, the respected left-field composer and producer. Now she is looking forward to revisiting the Curved Air favorites from the perspective of the present moment. Featuring founding members Darryl Way and Florian Pilkington Miksa, Curved Air are about to release a new album 'Reborn - Classic Curved Air Revisited' - a record of the Curved Air tracks that are given new life in this re-union tour. 'Reborn' will be released on June 18th and will be available through the band's official website: CurvedAir.com and on sale at the concerts.
