Frank Sinatra Enterprises and Concord Music Group are teaming on a pair of May 5 releases, My Way 40th Anniversary Edition and the never-before-available Sinatra at the Meadowlands.
The latter, a widely bootlegged 1986 concert, boasts 18 tracks spanning Sinatra's career. In addition to the title track and such covers as Yesterday and Mrs. Robinson, My Way includes For Once in My Life, recorded at a rehearsal for a 1969 TV special, and a live My Way captured in 1987 in Dallas.
In the liner notes, U2's Bono recalls hearing Sinatra's signature tune recently in a Dublin pub: I am struck by the one quality his voice lacks: sentimentality … (Sinatra's voice instills) such confidence in nervous times, allowing you romance but knocking your rose-tinted glasses off your noses if you get too carried away."
