Seattle's Ballard Jazz Festival Announces Artist Line-up for April 25-28, 2007

ORIGIN RECORDS is pleased to announce the artist line-up for the 4th annual Ballard Jazz Festival. Running from April 25-28, the festival's highlight will be the Saturday evening mainstage concert at Mars Hill Performance Hall featuring the Paris-based MOUTIN REUNION QUARTET, the CARL ALLEN TRIO from New York, and the 2nd annual Festival Big Band, an all-star collection of Seattle-area High School musicians.



THE BROTHERHOOD OF THE DRUM will kick off the Festival Wednesday & Thursday nights with several bands led by prominent Seattle-based drummers. In the past these concerts have featured Matt Cameron (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden), Michael Shrieve (Santana), Matt Chamberlain (Tori Amos, David Bowie, Pearl Jam), Kevin Sakwa, Gregg Keplinger and others. These concerts have been sponsored by Modern Drummer Magazine and will be held at the Tractor Tavern (5213 Ballard Ave NW, Seattle, WA).



Friday Night's BALLARD AVENUE JAZZ WALK presented by Home Street Bank, will feature some of the greatest jazz musicians from the Northwest. One low-priced ticket covers 11 different venues as club owners open their doors to a street full of jazz lovers. The 2007 Jazz Walk will be the largest since it's inception and includes: the MOUTIN REUNION QUARTET, VIC JURIS & COREY CHRISTIANSEN, BILL ANSCHELL, BEN THOMAS w/ JOVINO SANTOS NETO, DAWN CLEMENT, MATT JORGENSEN +451, BRENT JENSEN, THE UPPER LEFT TRIO, DAN BALMER, GREG WILLIAMSON QUINTET feat. BUDDY CATLETT, and many more.



The events of the week culminate on Saturday at the Mars Hill Performance Hall. Clinics will be held on various instruments and will be given by the internationally recognized artists performing during the week. The evening MAINSTAGE CONCERT will feature the BJF Big Band, as well as the CARL ALLEN TRIO, and from Paris, THE MOUTIN REUNION QUARTET. “This is one of the most exciting bands working today, and it's an honor to feature them at the Ballard Jazz Festival" says co- director Matt Jorgensen. “With the Carl Allen Trio, and the Big Band, this is going to be a great night of jazz."



Tickets go on sale on March 1st and are available through the BJF website at www.ballardjazzfestival.com. Tickets are priced at $15 for the Friday Jazz Walk, $25 for Saturday's clinics & concert, and $35 for a combined pass to both events, also available is a $100 Patron Pass, which includes an after-concert reception. Brotherhood of the Drum tickets are available separately for $13 in advance and $15 day of show from the same outlets.
