Criss Cross Jazz artist, Tim Warfield, introduces a new recording, with a strikingly clever perspective to “classic" repertoire from the Great American Songbook. Reaching as far back as the early 1920's, the music displays an ardent sensuality, and a feeling of history and celebration. A Sentimental Journey features, trumpeter extraordinaire, Terell Stafford, the dynamic Hammond B-3 organist Pat Bianchi, and the perpetual swinger from Philadelphia, drummer Byron Landham.

Assured and gracefully, Warfield and company, navigate through updated arrangements of such classic material as Meyer, Kahn and Caesar's, “Crazy Rhythm", Irving Kahal and Sammy Fain's, “I'll be Seeing You", Yvain's “My Man", and Duke Ellington's “In a Sentimental Mood", creating an elegant and personal statement.

“I made sure to think about what these songs represent", says the recently appointed Temple University music faculty member and five year Messiah College Artist in resident, “The intent of their creation, the distinctive qualities that make them what they are, the human condition at the time of their creation, as well as how they compare to the songs of today". These songs have undoubtedly withstood the test of time. The purity of these compositions make them great vehicles for expression".

A Sentimental Journey, on Criss Cross is now available in stores and online retailers.
