David S. Ware's longtime manager Steven Joerg, the family's official spokesman, has issued the following statement:
Last night, saxophonist and composer David S. Ware succumbed to complications from his 2009 kidney transplant at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He was 62.
His remains will be cremated and a musical memorial service will be organized for a later date.
WKCR 89.9 FM in New York is paying tribute to Ware with an 18-hour memorial broadcast that began at noon today (EST). Listen online.
An August 2011 documentary film, produced by David Lynch Foundation Television, is available for streaming in its entirety.
