Santa Monica, CA: The Savoy Label Group, home to legendary jazz recording label, Savoy Jazz, establishes a new home for funky dance grooves under the auspices of a new marketing campaign titled “Nu Groove," which will encompass the signing of dancefloor legends Saint Etienne to Savoy Jazz and the creation of Savoy Jazz Worldwide, a label that will debut in '06 with a wide slate of new dance-oriented projects. First up on January 24, Saint Etienne presents “Tales From Turnpike House"--their Savoy Jazz debut--a US release that includes three never-before-heard new tracks. Shortly following, Savoy Jazz Worldwide will release and market a slew of projects such as house music legends The Basement Boy's funk/soul/gospel concept album, “Mudfoot Jones"; a brand new recording by NYC soul-funk icons Groove Collective; “Re-Bop: Savoy Jazz Remixed"--a reinterpretation of Savoy Classics by maverick producers in the hip hop and dance worlds,; and a smooth collection of urbane downtempo grooves courtesy of Palace Lounge, “Cafe d'Afrique."

Kicking off a series of groove releases in late January, the much loved Saint Etienne return to the fold in fine style with “Tales From Turnpike House"--an all new collection of pop/dance gems with three previously unreleased tracks for their US Savoy Jazz debut. In addition to the 13-track album, special remixes of “Stars Above Us" are forthcoming. Saint Etienne also embark on a rare US tour beginning February 13th at Irving Plaza in New York City. The tour continues through Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Coming in April, a new project titled “Mudfoot Jones" by house music legends, The Basement Boys will be released on Savoy Jazz Worldwide. Iconic DJs Teddy Douglas and Jay Steinhour propelled artists such as Ultra Nate and Crystal Waters to the top of the charts back in the day. Now they've returned bringing forth a joyous gospel-inflected blues funk masterpiece under the guise of “ blues legend" Mudfoot Jones. “Mudfoot Jones" is a musical biography of a fictional blues figure mythologized by a worshipful production crew highlighting a jumpin' jazz vibe, a soulful dose of gospel, and an unstoppable four-on-the-floor energy. Mudfoot Jones will arrive in stores April 11.

Savoy Jazz Worldwide will propel the classic Savoy Jazz catalog into the ears and minds of a new generation when “Re-Bop: The Savoy Remixes" hits the stores in May. Leading DJs and producers from the worlds of hip hop and house music such as DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Smash, King Britt, DJ Spooky, Boots (from The Coup), Basement Boys, Quantic and more have all signed on bringing a fresh yet reverential vibe. The tracks remixed will be a who's who from Savoy Jazz's golden period including Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Sarah Vaughn, Herbie Mann and more. R"e-Bop: The Savoy Jazz Remixes" arrives May 9.

Hot on the heels of The Basement Boys, Savoy Jazz Worldwide will release a brand new project from Groove Collective, NYC's legendary dancefloor kings, who mix their signature blend of acid jazz beats and soulful afro-pop jams. Titled “People, People, Music, Music," Groove Collective's all new recording re-establishes their rep in the US as incomparable masters of multi-hued funk. Several of the tracks on “People, People, Music Music" showcase the talents of DJ Spinna. “People, People, Music, Music" is out on April 25th.

Savoy Jazz Worldwide will initiate a unique new series of chill-out compilations put together by the South African artist/producer collective Palace Lounge. Titled “Cafe d'Afrique," the set showcases fifteen of the most talented producers based in Africa in the downtempo genre. Sure to be distinctive amongst the selection of chill compilations, “Cafe d'Afrique" will serves up a smooth Afropop-inflected flavor. Palace Lounge Presents Cafe d'Afrique" will be in stores March 28.

Savoy JazzWorldwide is a unit of the Savoy Label Group (SLG). SLG is the North American unit of Columbia Music Entertainment (formerly Nippon Columbia), the oldest music company in Japan. Newly reorganized and now headed by Chairman Strauss Zelnick, Columbi Music Entertainment has re-emerged as a significant creative force with a stable of newly-signed platinum-selling artists.
