The music video of the single “Lo And Behold" of Sarah Marie Young's album Little Candy Heart premieres today. The album will be released 14 October on SnipRecords as (high resolution) download. Sarah is a well known, versatile Chicago vocalist and winner of the Montreux Jazz Vocal competition (2011), judged by Quincy Jones. One year after Young’s self released album Too Many Februaries (2013) she was sought out and signed by Dutch high resolution record label SnipRecords. From this relationship comes Sarah’s sophomore album, Little Candy Heart, a collection of soulful, jazzy originals that tell the age old story of love and heartbreak.

Sarah Marie Young will kick off the release at her home base in Chicago on 3 November at Schubas Tavern and will travel to The Netherlands later that same month for a promotional tour.

About Sarah Marie Young

Sarah (1982) was born and raised in Indianapolis to a supportive bassist father and singer/pianist mother. She was musically raised in a small Baptist church around gospel music. She is a self taught pianist and attended performing arts middle and highs schools for voice as a child. She wins the Indiana Gospel Meets Classical Voice in 2000. After high school she attends Indiana University for Classical Vocal performance. After two years she changes direction. She ends up in Chicago and starts a Bachelor's in jazz vocal performance with a tuition performance scholarship. She reaches the semi-finals in the Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition, judged by Herbie Hancock, Diane Reeves, Kurt Elling, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Al Jarreau in 2010. A year later she enters the Montreux Jazz Vocal Competition, judged by Quincy Jones, and receives first prize. She decided to use the prize, a week in the Swiss mountains at Balik Farm Studios, to record a full length album of originals. The songs, a narrative of the cold Chicago winters, mixed into relationships with family, friends and lovers, bore “Too Many Februaries” in 2013, self released.

About Little Candy Heart

The songs on the album Little Candy Heart have all been written by Sarah, often in close cooperation with pianist Stu Mindeman. The album is produced by Marijn Kooy and recorded in two days with all musicians playing together, in order to capture the groove and energy of interplay. Sarah invited Chicago’s finest musicians for this album: Stu Mindeman on keys (Gloria Estefan), Kyle Asche on guitar (Ari Brown), Bryan Doherty on bass (Regina Carter), Neal Wehman on drums (P!nk), and The Oh Yeahs (Leslie Beukelman and Allison Orobia) for backing vocals.
