The progressive-rock improvising trio SAM, formed by bassist Julie Slick, guitarist Peter Alexius and Chapman Stick player Marc Mennigmann, announce to release of their debut album called Another Life split in two volumes. Both volumes will be available on BandCamp, iTunes, Amazon, CDbaby, and several other digital record stores. The release of a physical 2 CD box is planned for the end of 2013.

Another Life Vol. 1 and Another Life Vol. 2 are a selection of the best improvisations that were recorded in October 2012 at the Goldsoundstudio, a small recording-studio in Hagen, Germany. Slick, Alexius and Mennigmann invited drummer Sven Kosakowski and guitarist Zaki Kiokakis to join them for a 4 days non stop recording session of freely improvised progressive rock music. During these days, more than 11 hours of music were created. In the following months they selected the very best 200 minutes of the session for release.

Another Life Vol. 1 will contain 16 tracks, Another Life Vol. 2 has 15 tracks, a great mix of duos, trios, quintets and quartets. Every track, every melody, every groove and every note is 100% improvised. “We are all completely thrilled, how well this worked out" says Marc Mennigmann. “The wordless communication of skilled musicians during instant improvised music is still one of the greatest mysteries but also one of the greatest gifts."
