NYC musicians Riza Printup, harp and Rose Rutledge, flute make their collaborative debut with a quartet on April 25th at Drom in lower Manhattan. With original compositions as well as jazz arrangements, the duo takes flute and harp to a new improvisatory level. “With upmost humility, we carry on the legacy implementing our own voices through originals (Haunt, Venti, Before Dawn, Rebirth) and arrangements of classic standards." Riza explains, “Our hope is to stir the heart while stimulating the ears, from our soul to yours."

An eclectic and versatile musician, Riza works as a freelance harpist in the New York area specializing in both jazz and classical styles. Ms. Printup has recorded with several acclaimed jazz artists including, trumpeter Marcus Printup, composer/pianist Kenny Werner and saxophonist Joe Lovano. Recently she has performed with artists such as the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Chick Corea and Yo-Yo Ma.

A Vanderbilt and NYU graduate, Rose Rutledge is a multi-woodwind instrumentalist with accolades on flute, oboe and saxophone. Ms. Rutledge has performed with musicians such as Wynton Marsalis, Chris Potter, Josh Garrels, Lacrymosa, Jon Braman and the Seattle Symphony. Rose states, “We seek to engage, explore, pay tribute, learn and essentially unfold two modern voices as one." This new musical collaboration provides a delightful twist on the traditional and ventures to a place rarely visited by flute and harp duos.
