Saturday, November 14th, the Rick Stone Trio presents an evening of jazz standards and originals at the Bar Next Door. Performing with Rick will be bassist Ratzo Harris and drummer Tom Pollard. The Bar Next Door is located in the basement of La Lanterna Caffe at 129 MacDougal Street. There is a cover charge of $6 for the 7pm show, and $12 for the 9pm show.





Rick's recordings Blues For Nobody, Far East and Samba de Novembro have received significant national airplay and critical acclaim. He has performed at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall, the Blue Note, the Smithsonian Institute, Kennedy Center with groups that have included stellar musicians like Kenny Barron, Barry Harris, Ralph Lalama, and Eric Alexander. Rick has also worked as a sideman with blues singer Irene Reid, saxophonist Eric Person, and swing clarinetist Sol Yaged, and teaches jazz guitar at Hofstra University, Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and the Jazzmobile Saturday Workshop Program.

For nearly 30 years Ratzo Harris been in demand as a bassist on the New York. As well has an impressive 25 year stint with Mose Allison, Ratzo has performed and recorded with an amazing variety of artists including; Bruce Arnold Trio, Jane Ira Bloom, Judi Silvano, Royce Campbell, Kenny Werner, Denny Zeitlin, Roseanna Vitro, Joe Lovano, Bob Albanese, David Lopato, Steve Wertz, Connie Crothers, Deborah Weisz, Cynthia Hilts, Eli Yamin, Omar Tamez, Eric Halverson, Frank Oteri and his String Messengers, Mel Martin, Jill McManus, Russell Ferrante, and guitarist Dave Haskell.

Drummer Tom Pollard is known for his versatility and creative, open rhythmic approach to playing jazz. Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, he left his home town to study jazz at the New England Conservatory of Music. In 1998 he moved to New York City where he has performed with noted jazz artists such as pianist George Colligan and saxophonist Eric Person. In addition to teaching drumset and jazz improvisation at the Queens Conservatory of Music, he can be seen and heard performing regularly in the various jazz clubs in and around New York City.
