REPERCUSSIONS: Max Roach's M'Boom and So Percussion at Merkin Concert Hall Tue, May 24, at 8 PM

In the 1970's, legendary drummer Max Roach formed M'Boom--a unique percussion ensemble of super percussionists/composers/arrangers--that extended not only his vision of music, but also the harmonic, melodic and rhythmic scope of percussion music. “Repercussions" is the historic joining of M'Boom with young contemporaries, So Percussion. Roach's vision continues to grow through this collaboration between generations--rich with rhythmic textures and a rainbow of voicings.

The performance includes Kaufman Center commissions by Muhal Richard Abrahms ("Bamolu") and Anthony Davis ("Rhythm Max").

M'Boom is: Eli Fountain, Warren Smith, Joe Chambers, Ray Mantilla, Steve Berrios, Nasheet Waits, Stefon Harris and Craig McGiver

So Percussion is: Doug Perkins, Adama Sliwinski, Jason Treuting and Lawson White
